OLDER RELEASES

Q: What was Animal Number 54?
A: Animal Number 54 was Greg Camilleri's rock band started in 1996 that was in obscure existence for over 3 years in the San Francisco/Berkeley alternative music scene. Greg grew tired of the band's direction and in the end had little control over the sound. The band officially broke up in October of 1999.

Q: Can I get Animal Number 54 CDs?
A: Short answer: no.

Animal Number 54 had one official release, "Demo", which had exactly 54 copies made. 50 were the standard 4 track CD, and the remaining 4 copies were extremely limited fake "Japanese Edition" with an additional studio outtake song. There were also exactly 6 copies made of an "unofficial" release of 12 assorted demos and instrumental tracks called "The Thorne Bush Sessions".

A nearly 50 minute compilation entitled Requiem for a Band was released in June 2003, then discontinued when the stock ran out. It was again reissued in a factory-pressed CD-only version on May 31st, 2005, then discontinued again (most likely forever) in April of 2006.

Q: What about the song Cruelest Game? Did Limp Bizket and/or Korn really do a cover?
A: Mp3s of Animal Number 54 have been floating around the internet for years now, and the band's most popular song, "Cruelest Game", has appeared in several independent films. "Cruelest Game" is the most heavily traded MP3 of the band, probably because it has been mislisted as limp bizcut cruelest game, limp bizket cruelest game, korn cruelest game, metallica cruelest game, kid rock cruelest game, and hard rock cruelest game among many other filenames. And also, truly, because it's a fucking good song!

Q: What is this "Prequels" CD?
A: "Prequels" was Greg Camilleri's experimental attempt at a solo album and was recorded in two weeks at a rented room of a small house in San Francisco. Principal recording began in October of 1999. Bink (from Animal Number 54) performed on 5 tracks of the 11 track CD. Exactly 23 copies were made of Prequels and given out on December 23rd, 1999 at a special xmas/release party for Greg's friends. It’s an incredibly simple and minimalist album and marked the transition from Animal Number 54 to Greg's solo music style. It will never ever be re-released, so don't even ask. Also, the version of "Nightcrawler Dreaming" that appears on Prequels is much different then the version that appeared on the Works in Progress EP, but Greg has never been happy with any recorded versions despite (frequently) playing the song live.

    All these were self-released
in 1999, and all are long long
discontinued.
