Unfortunately, due to reasons too numerous to mention, I've had to postpone the release of the new record indefinitely. It seems almost criminal to do so at this point, especially with the album being so close to being finished, but it's one of those things beyond my control. So rather then setting another best guess release date that may change again, I've decided to change the release date back to 'TBA'.

As mentioned a week ago on my twitter account, the new album's release date has been pushed to 11/10/09 due to an illness that prevented me from completing the overdubs. Hopefully this will be the only delay.

Details for those who like them:

So the 09/29/09 release date for Sirens will be a digital-only release, but any of you audiophiles out there will be happy to note that the album will be released in a special download bundle that will include three digital copies of the album, one being in Apple Lossless format, the other two in high bitrate MP3 and AAC formats.

This way I can actually make the release date (without worrying about manufacturing headaches) and still deliver the album the way I want you to hear it, with the same quality as if you had just unwrapped a retail CD.

Of course, a retail CD version of the album is planned, although I wouldn't expect it until sometime in early 2010. Also, it won't be on iTunes until late November of this year, so my website will be the only place to get your "Sirens" fix for now.

Depending on how well this little releasing experiment goes will decide how (or if) I will be releasing more of the almost 150 unreleased songs I have sitting around gathering dust. Lots to think about.

So finally, there's a release date for this new album of mine. 09/29/09.

Track list still undecided because the album isn't finished. In fact, there is not a single song recording in the over 150 songs I've fooled around with in the 7 years between albums that I'd call 100% 'finished'. But I'll get the 12 or so tracks I decide make the cut as close as I can.

So I did this for Aimee Mann's contest a while back... and long story short.... being a horrible procrastinator... I was one of the very last people to upload one (actually, technically, I was probably a little late) and did the entire video and recording in less then a day. I recently just watched it though, and don't think it (the cover or the video) turned out bad.

I guess I decided to share it because... although I did it for fun... it got me started thinking about perhaps recording seriously again... a momentum that continues to this day. So I wanted to thank Aimee for indirectly inspiring me to return to recording, and also for being such a consistently uncompromising kick-ass songwriter she is. Happy 4th of July! (..what a waste of gunpowder and sky...)

Slowly but almost-surely... I seem to be comin' around. There may be a couple singles from Sirens coming out before the whole deal is released. There's still a huge mass of stuff to do, although I pretty much have an idea of the songs that will be on it.

That movie thing I mentioned though, that's gonna be neat. Finishing touches on that script right now.

Some of you may be interested in knowing that Sirens is going through it's final recording/mixing sessions right now. The record will be out this summer, and the first single & video will be out beforehand.

With luck, I'll get some kind of major and/or cool indie label support with this one, but rather then sit on the record while I figure that stuff out, I'll be releasing it independently as it's been way way way too long since I've released any music.

I'm also looking forward to announcing a movie that I've been writing for what also seems like forever, but I still can't really say nothin' about yet. But the fact that I still get excited about that one tells me it's probably pretty good. Or I could just be going crazy (likely both).

Anyhow, it feels good to be finishing up my several years of quiet solitude, and slowly emerging with the results. If anyone out there is actually reading this, thanks for your patience.
